Typically rooms cost on average 30% more than the standard rooms, but for that premium, there are a host of benefits that come with it. So I thought it was time to put my thoughts and comparisons into a blog post, based on the seven holidays we have had at Ikos and Sani. The personal concierge at Sani was more experienced and in general, Sani's reception and customer service staff were quicker to respond to our requests and seemed more knowledgeable. We prefer low rise accommodation, and our stays at Sani have been at Asterias and Dunes which offer this type of accommodation. The standard of food at the Ikos Aria was really good. We had free airport transfers included in our accommodation package and actually they were both just as easy as the other, but Ikos Dassia at just under 40 minutes was perhaps a little shorter (and would have been much quicker if not for the traffic). There is still plenty of activities on offer, such as non motorised watersports, tennis, football, bike hire, gym, table tennis, kids clubs etc, and the best thing is that most activities are included at ikos. The second difference is the board basis you stay on at each resort. The rooms are broken down into four main categories. They also offer almost exactly the same kids clubs, creche and babysitter services as they are managed by the UK-registered company Worldwide Kids. The Ikos chain of resorts has become the standout chain It would be impossible to get bored of the swimming choices at either. Walking the sleepy streets of Kos Town will introduce you to Venetian and Ottoman architecture, traditional tavernas and bustling bars. To give you an insight into pricing, Ive put below what we paid for our Ikos and Sani holiday, both of which were in 2019. It took eight years to drain the water and make the land habitable. From these room types, there is the option to add the deluxe offering to most of them. but that Kos would have been a longer flight, which is something we try to avoid with two young children. Its also worth mentioning that three of these pools are infinity edged, the ideal spot to take a new pic for the gram. You don't need to look at many photos of our accommodation in Sani and our suite in Ikos Dassia to realise that it all looks VERY similar. It was nice to be able to plan out the day ahead and to know when to be out of the room for the cleaning. It is a 5-star resort, so its not really a surprise that its pricey. However, we did prefer the beach at Ikos, and most likely this is because it's a natural beach with lots of space, while Sani is man-made and much smaller. Sani's location in a bay in Halkidiki is easy to get to by car in around 50 minutes, but to be honest it's not very accessible by any other means, and actually walking to and from each hotel in the resort from Sani Club isn't easy. Speaking of food, there are eight dining destinations to choose from, each providing a different culinary sensation. There are a few caveats to that. Alcoholic drinks at Sani were expensive (10 - 20 for cocktails, for example), and weren't any better or any worse than those poured at Ikos Dassia, And furthermore, Ikos had a much more extensive wine list, including a wine bar that you could go spend an evening in and do some tasting, featuring a menu of up to 300 different wines. all inclusive! How they do this is with the complimentary Mini one rental and the three local restaurants that are included in your all-inclusive package. For example, for us, quiet and comfortable accommodation and a good swimming pool will always be more important to us than the beach because we never spend much time on beaches. They are 100% confidently 5-star resorts, and to achieve this when you have several if not hundreds of kids, running around all the time, is definitely something to shout about for them and for parents to fall in love with when they travel to Sani or Ikos. Alternatively, if you want to have more flexibility and think it will save you more money or give you more options, so would prefer a half-board option, Sani is the one. With five hotels in one complex, which one will you choose? If you are staying in a deluxe room you will have access to more premium top-shelf options like Taittinger champagne on tap. My eldest also enjoyed going off exploring Sani by himself. Oh, and while I have your attention, from now on all the photos will alternate from Sani to Ikos, Sani then Ikos and so on, starting with Sani resort. After all, Ikos was acknowledged in TripAdvisor s 2020 awards as the best all-inclusive resort in the world. Open date: May 2020 Plus, all of the restaurants provide healthy childrens menus. Ikos offers ONLY all-inclusive board for all guests with no exceptions, and this includes all your dining, room service and drinks, ALL OF THEM. In short, kids clubs that run for three sessions a day - morning, lunch and afternoon - are complimentary from 4 upwards. Supervised age-appropriate kids clubs provide a schedule of daily activities, theres evening entertainment thats aimed towards all ages from tots to granny, as well as a wealth of local experiences you can discover under the brands Local Discover offering. I'll be honest and say that the main reason Ikos has the edge here is because of the all-inclusive set-up. You can book into restaurants on their app or by calling the reception. Although guests arent required to perform an antigen test, its highly recommended from the Ikos that guests do use them. So, you shouldnt have any issues getting a spot by the pool. Alternatively, to dial up the restful levels, visit the spa where a menu of holistic treatments is available from 8am until 8pm daily. Im keeping everything crossed we get to Sani later on in the year. On average for the most basic room, you can expect to pay around 2,500 for 7 days for two people in a double room in the off-season of September and October and up to 4,000 during the peak months. This alone is the main reason we will keep on returning to Sani and Ikos resorts!
